Wood grain effects, in the British Isles it was a designed approach to house finishing that would cut costs, the 1980’s were the period when this started and house builders followed each other in their cost quest.
The basic timber, a white pine, unseasoned, was simply given a coat of stain. Windows followed to complete the new fashion.
We all know now that the piper came and he is collecting, and will for many decades to come.
Double Glazed Windows were the first to emulate the stained look, in the replacement
industry, in the mid 90’s promises of a Black or a Brown that would complement were the Industry tease. Rooflines would not touch them.
